Events and Christmas Light Displays

Cities around Australia put on some amazing Christmas events and light shows. Today we have videos of Christmas lights, parades and celebrations  around Australian City Centres in 2014.


Each year Adelaide puts on a Christmas parade to welcome Santa to the city. Here is a photo clip video of the 2014 event.



Brisbane will hold the Myer Christmas Parade and Pantomime starting on December 13th. Here is a video of last year’s parade.



Canberra broke the Guinness World Record world record for the largest Christmas LED light display this year. The display in Petrie Plaza has more than a million LED lights.

This is the first time the display has been held in the Plaza.Last year the display was held at a house in Canberra. It broke the world record for the most LED lights on a home with more than half a million lights. Money from entry fees is donated to a charity.


Gold Coast

The Gold Coast holds a Christmas lights competition each year to see which home has the best lights. Here is a video of last year’s winner



Hobart lights up many of it’s city streets for Christmas. Here’s a quick video of the lights this year. A Christmas Pageant was held in November.



Melbourne puts on a spectacular light display on the town hall each year.¬† Here’s a video of the 2014 lights.



Perth’s has a brand new 13 metre tall Christmas tree.¬† A Christmas concert was held before the tree was lit. Here is a cool time lapse video of the concert and tree lighting.



Martin Place Christmas Opening

The lighting of the Christmas tree in Martin Place, Sydney, started with a children’s concert and ended with a large fireworks display. The Christmas tree is interactive. You can change colors and send text messages to the branches using touchpads and even using an app on your phone.


Darling Harbor Christmas Fireworks

Darling Harbor in Sydney is holding firework displays each Saturday until Christmas.
